Biography
Gabriele Preci is a digital artist born in Bologna in 1976, specializing in hyper-realistic portraits marked by a distinct ethnographic sensibility. Having begun his artistic journey in childhood through traditional drawing, he returned to art in adulthood using digital media, transforming a long-dormant passion into a focused and deeply personal practice.
Self-taught in drawing, Preci has honed his technique through years of study and experimentation; he works primarily with Procreate, employing an airbrush-inspired style to create portraits defined by precision, atmosphere, and emotional depth. His work centers on the human face as a vehicle for identity, memory, culture, and lived experience.
Drawing on his background in graphic design—including layout and logo creation—Preci imbues his art with both visual rigor and expressive sensitivity. His portraits combine technical mastery with clear narrative intent, inviting the viewer to look beyond mere physical resemblance and grasp the stories held within each face.
Drawing is not merely a matter of technique or precision; it is the tool through which I give form to the stories, gazes, and identities that strike me, transforming an emotion into an indelible mark.
