Portrait of a Man Wearing an Himachal Pradesh Topi, from Rampur
A portrait of a man wearing a version of the Himachal Pradesh *Topi* hat.
It is said that people used to wear this *Topi* to cover their heads during cold winters and protect themselves from the chill.
Over time, it became traditional everyday headwear for the people of Himachal Pradesh.
There are several types of these hats—Bushahri, Kulluwi, Kinnauri, and Lahuli—which differ in their design.
